Hi everyone. New here. I have high risk type 18 HPV.
It has caused some serious strain in my relationship and my boyfriend has not been understanding, supportive, or an emotionally safe place to talk about it. He wants me to know how much of a frustration I am to him in this area and he resents me for it. Even though I’m in a relationship, I have felt very alone when it comes to dealing with my HPV. I’m wondering if there are any women on here whose partners have been very sweet and supportive and loving to them despite their diagnosis (I most likely got my HPV from someone other than my boyfriend, but didn’t know I had it until a year after we started dating). I think I need hope that if my boyfriend and I break up over this that there are men out there who love and support their partners well through all of it.

I think you need to realize how prevalent this is. I mean there is a vaccine for it. I know it is scary, but you are looking to see if another man will love you with this, while you have a man that loves you with this. I think he is trying to tell you with staying and loving you is that there is no shame, which there isn't. He can have it, there just isn't a test for men unless they get warts. It is okay and healthy to grieve, but don't push him away, you are not unlovable.

Hello, I hope things have gotten better since this post. I am dealing with the same diagnosis (HPV), my boyfriend doesn’t really ask much about my diagnosis. I hope with time your boyfriend gives you the support you need. I’m here if you need to talk. I know it feels like your alone dealing with this.
